Ashiatsu Orientsl Bar Therapy

This massage gives the saying "I feel walked all over" a whole new meaning.  During this type of massage the feet apply the deep pressure instead of the hands.  It is a 3000 year old Eastern form of body work;  Ashi meaning foot and Atsu meaning pressure.  In 1999 the therapy was reintroduced and Westernized by Ruthie Hardee, pioneer in the field of massage.  Today this technique is now referred to as Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy.  Our licensed massage therapist has  been specifically trained and certified in this modality.

This massage is performed on a table with parallel bars suspended above  from the ceiling.  The bars assist the therapist to balance and adjust pressure to maximize the effect. The therapist uses her soft, clean feet to perform the massage.  Since the foot is bigger than the typical hand, it covers more surface area, resulting in greater pressure being applied .  It helps relieve muscular tension and knots while improving posture and flexibility.  Ashiatsu is highly effective for large athletes with thick musculature torsos and people who enjoy deep tissue massage.  Although very beneficial, Ashiatsu is not for everyone.  Please inform your therapist of any medical or health condition and or consult your physician before receiving a session if you have any preexisting medical concern.
